Fairvern redevelopment gets funding approval from the province

Fairvern is getting the nod from the province to start redevelopment.

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care approved a request from the Fairvern Nursing Home Board for funding to build a new facility with 96 beds, 20 more than the current home offers.

The District of Muskoka had previously agreed to kick in $10 million to cover about 40 per cent of the cost of redevelopment, with the ministry now covering the rest. The Town of Huntsville is donating the land and will cover the $250,000 cost to build a new road to the redevelopment.

The Fairvern board has not announced a start date for the project yet.
