Technology has changed student learning. That’s according to the Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) who has put money aside over the past four years for innovation and inquiry projects. Superintendent of Elementary and Secondary Operations Dianna Scates says teachers can apply for grants to look into student achievement and engagement using technology.
The TLDSB has put efforts to get teachers up to speed on technology by creating the Earn a Laptop program, where teachers took eight courses on their own time.
The Province has announced funding towards enhancing technology in the classrooms. Scates says the board is excited the funding will focus on hardware and professional learning for educators.
Scates says she will likely hear from the Ministry of Education in October to see if the school board will get some of that funding.
