The subject of engaging youth is a concern among the young voters in Huntsville. At last night’s All Candidates Forum, Huntsville High School students Neve Taylor asked the candidates how they would engage more youth in local politics. Taylor says Scott Aitchison gave the best answer.

Aitchison proposed ideas such as creating a Youth Council at Town Hall. Meanwhile, Hugh MacKenzie says he believes in our youth and the importance of social media to keep them informed. Tim Withey says there’s no question there needs to be more engagement with the young people of Huntsville since they are the future of this community.

It was the last question of the night that got the most laughs from the audience. Huntsville High Schools’ Canadian World Studies Teacher Anthony Asturi asked Scott Aitchison, Hugh MacKenzie and Tim Withey who they would vote for if their name wasn’t in the race.

Meantime, other questions asked involved road infrastructure, our hospital, the local economy and more. So who won last night’s debate? Here’s what some of you had to say.

Despite some having favourites, there was one consistent observation; that all three men are very strong candidates.
