Santa’s Village Road reconstruction meeting to take place Thursday

Timelines, design preparation and tentative construction dates. That’s what officials say will be in store for Thursday’s public meeting regarding Santa’s Village Road in Bracebridge.

The District Municipality of Muskoka’s Engineering and Public Works Department will be hosting the meeting in order to communicate design plans of the road, where the road will be laid out and construction start dates. It’s been said by officials that a previous meeting needed to be rescheduled to accommodate attendance.

Administrators are saying The District Municipality of Muskoka has identified a need for transportation improvements to Muskoka Road 15, from Beaver Creek Bridge to the entrance of Santa’s Village. Improvements to address road surface, road base and subgrade performance deficiencies, drainage, erosion control and active transportation are also being considered by officials.

When it comes to the planning and design of the project, the District is saying they would like the input from locals.  Officials say there is an interest in receiving comments on local experience with transportation issues in the study area and what the alternative solutions could be.

The meeting is set to take place Thursday, March 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the District of Muskoka Council Chamber, 70 Pine St. Bracebridge.
