Police arrest two more people in connection to the recent kidnapping in Huntsville

Two more people have been charged in a recent kidnapping case. Twenty-seven-year-old John Merkel was in court earlier today on kidnapping charges. The Huntsville OPP says last Thursday Merkel forced a victim to stay at a residence for 24 hours. In that time, Merkel allegedly assaulted and threatened the victim. He also took the victim to a local bank and forced him to take out money from his account. Huntsville OPP says in this ongoing investigation officers have arrested two more people, but can’t release any more details because of a publication ban. Merkel is also charged with forcible confinement, assault, breach of probation and possession of a controlled substance.
