“Move to Give” with the YMCA Simcoe/Muskoka

The YMCA is challenging Muskokans to “Move to Give” this spring. The fourth annual fundraising event is happening on April 7th in eight YMCAs across the region, including in Gravenhurst. The goal of the campaign is to raise $100,000. Participants will run, cycle, swim and pull to raise money for the charity. The money raised will help people of all ages access the Y’s services, regardless of their financial situation.

YMCA CEO Rob Armstrong says the event not only aims to raise money, but also to provide the community with programs to battle things like childhood obesity, social isolation and chronic disease. He says over 1,300 people took part last year, and the money raised help to provide over 15,000 people access to various programs.

Some of the programs the YMCA offers include fitness classes, child care, employment training and volunteer development.

If you want to sign up and take pledges, you can register on the YMCA website.
