Ryerson University report on Brendale Square to be presented next week

Huntsville is gathering for a special planning meeting next week about the future of Brendale Square. Ryerson University Master of Planning students have been working with the town on a report on what can be done with the site; which has multiple vacant stores, a pothole filled parking lot, flooding issues and soil contamination.

Some of the recommendations include putting in a park, fixing the street and sidewalks along the square and creating a mixed-use development for office and residential space. The report also proposes better access to trails for hikers and cyclists, a gateway entrance at Main and John, and bus stop improvements.

The full report will be presented and discussed during Tuesday night’s meeting, which gets underway at 7:00pm in council chambers. The meeting is open to the public.
