Muskokans are being advised to take precautions when outdoors this week. Environment Canada has put the entire district under an extreme cold warning, as temperatures are expected to drop rapidly this evening. We could be seeing lows of minus 20 to 25 degrees, feeling like minus 35 to 40 with the wind chill.
The temperature and wind chill could be even lower on Friday night, and the extreme cold will continue until Sunday morning. Environment Canada says to cover up when outside, as frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin. That is especially true with the wind chill.
The weather service also notes if it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pets.
