Snow squall watch upgraded to a warning

Christmas Day travel may get tricky in Muskoka. Environment Canada is calling for intense snow squalls, affecting areas southeast of Georgian Bay this morning. The squalls are expected to shift north to affect areas east of Georgian Bay this afternoon and evening, before moving south again tonight.

Around 15 to 25 cm of snow are possible by later tonight.

On top of the squalls, Environment Canada says gusty winds will produce low visibility in blowing snow, and is urging holiday travellers to adjust their plans if possible. Visibility will be down to zero at times in the heavy and blowing snow.
