Muskoka is now under a snow squall watch with 15 cm of snow possible

A heavy band of snowfall could be targeting Muskoka tonight.

Environment Canada has put the district under a snow squall watch with up to 15cm of snowfall possible for tonight. According to the weather service, a storm rolling off Georgian Bay could bring lake effect snow into the area. In the past, these types of storms have brought 30cm of snowfall or more to the district.

Weather officials say the snowfall will push into Wednesday with possibly another 10 to 15 cm falling throughout the day. And the heavy winter weather won’t be done with us yet as Environment Canada says it’s possible more snow squalls could be on the way on Thursday.

The OPP is warning drivers to slow down when the snow hits and give yourself lots of time to get where you’re going. The MyMuskokaNow newsroom will keep you updated on this storm as more details come in, as well as road conditions and bus delays or cancellations.
