Blue-green algae warning lifted for Peninsula Lake in Huntsville

Your water in Huntsville should be safe to use again.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is lifting a water advisory for Peninsula Lake. Health officials warned residents to stop using the water for cooking and cleaning in late September after blue-green algae toxins were found in the water. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change was called in to test the water. Health officials say the water shouldn’t be an issue anymore. Blue-green algae toxins can cause vomiting and diarrhea and could lead to long-term liver problems.

A blue-green algae advisory for Pickerel Lake in Armour Township has not been lifted yet by the North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit.
