Officers with the Ministry of Natural Resources are on the hunt for rule breakers.
During the moose hunting season in October, conservation and OPP officers from around the region worked together to target hunters in Parry Sound. Throughout the week officers checked over 2,000 hunters and laid 59 charges.
A specialized campaign on October 29th targeted hunters using highway 69 in Parry Sound. Over 500 hunters were stopped and checked and nine charges were laid. Some charges were related to misuse of a hunting licence, illegally killing wildlife, illegally transporting live fish and keeping a loaded firearm in a vehicle.
Deer hunting season is running in the Parry Sound and Muskoka areas until November 19th. Conservation officers will be out and about checking in with hunters again during this time.
