Algonquin Highlands is yanking a request for a pavement design review for the McClintock Quarry.
Council decided to waive the review after John Bacher Construction Limited reduced its extraction limit of the quarry. Mayor Carol Moffatt says the significant reduction in the company’s extraction limit made councillors more comfortable.
Since the quarry, which is next to Harvey Lake, is on crown land the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry could approve the expansion without any township input. The plan in front of the MNRF would see the quarry expand from just under five acres to approximately 53.
