Police want you to keep your sensitive information protected online

Police want to make sure you’re protected from online identity theft.

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month, and the OPP in Muskoka is giving some tips on how to keep your most personal information protected. Police say you should be very cautious about entering things like your credit card or social insurance number online.

You should also never give out any personal information over the phone if someone calls you claiming to be from the Canadian Revenue Agency or your bank.

If you believe you’re a victim of identity theft or fraud you should keep track of your finances. If money is missing or you have strange charges on your credit cards, you should call police.
