South Muskoka Bears gets a new set of goalie equipment for young hockey players

An equipment assistance program is helping aspiring young goalies in Muskoka.

The South Muskoka Minor Hockey Association is getting a new set of CCM goalie equipment courtesy of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association. OMHA Executive Director Ian Taylor says this equipment helps hockey clubs give young kids a chance to try playing in the net.

The equipment is meant for kids between five and seven-years-old and can be used for years by the hockey club. Taylor says the need for equipment like this is clearly high as they had over 170 hockey clubs apply.

The Almaguin Hockey Club was also one of the 40 selected for the program this year.
