Huntsville’s Mayor is going through testing after being diagnosed with Angina. Scott Aitchison will be going for a coronary angiogram on Wednesday at the Southlake Regional Health Centre. The procedure is a special x-ray to find out if coronary arteries are blocked or narrowed, and by how much.
Huntsville officials say the procedure will help specialists know what further medical attention may be required.
Aitchison will be continuing to work as mayor during this time, but his public schedule will be scaled back. Deputy Mayor Karin Terziano and the rest of council will help to take over.
Aitchison says he is fortunate to be in good hands with his medical team, and will be sharing his experience with the community. He says he will be emphasizing the importance of knowing and recognizing the warning signs of heart disease.
