The Ontario Provincial Police are concerned with the number of motorcycle fatalities this year.
The OPP says there have been 26 motorcycle deaths so far this year and with at least two months left of the riding season, they fear that number could rise to a seven-year high.
Just this week, the Southern Georgian Bay OPP charged a motorcyclist with stunt driving for popping a wheely while heading eastbound on Highway 12 which had the motorcycle towed and impounded for a week and the driver’s privileges suspended for seven days.
And earlier this month, OPP Aircraft Enforcement Patrol clocked a motorcyclist travelling at 210 kilometres per hour who was also charged under Ontario’s stunt driving law.
OPP Deputy Commissioner Brad Blair says they are relying on motorcyclists and the motoring public to work with police and join efforts to keep motorcycling safe with the simple solution being; ride and drive within the law.
