Blue-green algae warning put in place for Whalley Lake in Magnetawan

If you are heading to Magnetawan this weekend, you may want to stay out of the water.

The Health Unit is advising people to be cautious of blue-green algae in Whalley Lake.

They say toxins from the algae can stay in the water for up to three weeks after the bloom is gone.

Officials say blue-green algae can cause skin rashes and if you swallow the toxins they can cause diarrhea or vomiting.
