A fishing violation is costing a Muskoka man $1,000. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry fined the Dwight resident forĀ using live baitfish as bait in a spot where it’s not allowed.
Conservation officers were doing an enforcement blitz in March in the Bracebridge and Algonquin Park area, when they checked the man as he was ice-fishing on Doughnut Lake. You can’t use live baitfish there, because it’s a trout lake and invasive species are a threat to the fish.
The case was heard in a Bracebridge court last Tuesday, and the man pleaded guilty.
