Integrity commissioner suggestion vetoed by Muskoka district council

Muskoka is passing on hiring an integrity commissioner, but that isn’t the end of the conversation.
A majority of district councillors voted against hiring Robert Swayze, the current Muskoka Lakes Integrity Commissioner, as the district`s integrity commissioner.
An integrity commissioner takes complaints about council’s code of conduct, whether it’s from the public, staff, or council itself, and makes recommendations.
Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith says if it’s not Swayze, council will soon be forced to find someone else for this position.
A District Councillor for Muskoka Lakes, Phil Harding says he voted no because of his experience working with Swayze in his own riding.
Harding says there have been 63 complaints against council, but only a couple were addressed by Swayze.
