Honey Harbour Public School has survived the chopping block.
Board members with the Trillium Lakelands District School Board agreed with the recommendation from staff to keep the school open another five years.
Staff had originally recommended closing the school this summer, but strong support from the Georgian Bay community and the promise of funding from the Ministry of Education changed that decision.
Earlier this year, the Simcoe Muskoka District Catholic School Board voted to close the only other school in Honey Harbour, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School.
