Muskokans weigh in on a project to bring fibre optic internet to rural communities

Fiber optic internet could be coming to rural Muskoka with a new project in the works.
Lakeland Energy is hoping to start this expansion as soon as next year if it is able to get government funding.
Moose FM wanted to know if you think faster rural internet would be a valuable asset in Muskoka.
The project, which would set up a main trunk line throughout rural areas in Muskoka and Parry Sound, is estimated to cost about $25 million.
The District of Muskoka has agreed to help fund this project with a loan of $10 million for Lakeland Energy.
We should expect to hear an update on this project by the end of the summer.
