Audible signals at intersections in Muskoka to provide more accessibility for residents

The District of Muskoka is working to meet the needs of all of its residents.
In order to help pedestrians with visualĀ impairments the district has installed audible signals at four intersections in communities around Muskoka.
This includes Huntsville, Gravenhurst and Bracebridge.
These audible signals have two sounds, which include a cuckoo sound that signals the walker to cross north or south and a chirping sound that signals the ability to cross east or west.
There is also a locator ping noise that helps the pedestrian find the crossing button when they come up to the intersection.
Here is a list of each of the intersections you can find these new audible signals:
  • Huntsville, Main Street and Brunel Road
  • Huntsville, Main Street and Centre Street
  • Gravenhurst, Muskoka Road and Bay Street at the Post Office
  • Bracebridge, Manitoba Street and Ann Street
