A Gravenhurst boy has successfully come out of an important surgery to help him walk.
Four-year-old Ethan Van Ekelenburg-Scharman recently underwent spinal surgery to allow him to walk despite his spastic cerebral palsy.
His mother and father travelled down with him to St. Louis in Missouri to have the procedure done.
Tina Van Ekelenburg says she would have never been able to give her son this gift without the help from the Muskoka community.
Over $127,000 was raised in order to pay for the expensive procedure, which is not covered by health insurance.
Ethan will spend the next month recovering and learning to walk before he makes his way back to his Muskoka home.
