Huntsville YMCA is helping to fill a gap in the local culinary arts scene

Aspiring chefs can learn some skills for free with the Huntsville YMCA. The 24-week program includes academic training, paid work experience, and work place skills training. It’s called the Culinary Arts Pre-Apprenticeship Program, and is in partnership with Georgian College Muskoka.

The program ran last year for the first time, after local employers raised concerns about finding skilled culinary staff. Up to 18 people can take the course this time around.

Anyone who is out of school, working less than 20 hours a week, and interested in a career in the culinary arts can apply.

More information about the application process is available on the YMCA website.
