Muskoka’s garbage disposal issues are now covered with new Rosewarne Landfill

A 13-year, $13 million district project has finally come to completion in Bracebridge.
On Wednesday morning, municipal and District of Muskoka officials both past and present gathered to see the ribbon cut on the new Rosewarne Landfill just outside of town.
Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith says this landfill shouldn’t be a concern to residents in terms of environmental safety.
Smith says water runoff from garbage in the landfill, known as leachate, will be collected and dealt with safely.
The new landfill, which has a 950,000 tonne capacity, is expected to serve Muskoka for the long-term future.
The site was christened with its first load of garbage during the ribbon cutting event.
