Local arm wrestling champs return from PEI with top placements

 

Local arm wrestling coach Joey Costello and arm wrestling champion Ashley Mahar just got back from Charlottetown, PEI this past long weekend from the National Arm wrestling Championships.  This event is a qualifier for the World Arm Wrestling Championships, which are to be held in Vilinus, Lithuania this coming September.  The first and second place finishers in each category qualify to represent Canada.  

Here’s how people from our region placed, representing Ontario:

Tammy Schell of Gravenhurst, in the Womens 80 kg left arm class, got 3rd place in the masters 80 kg, left arm 2nd place.  

Bailey Schell, Gravenhurst, 8 and under class, 1st place left arm and 5th place right arm.

Chase Schell, Gravenhurst, 13-15 yr old class, 1st place both right and left. 

Darren Schell, Gravenhurst, 77 kg Open class, 6th place, Masters 80 kg right arm, 4th and left 3rd

Jakob Chilton from Bracebridge, at 9 years old, placed 2nd place left arm in the 8-12 year old category and 3rd in the right arm.

Joey Costello, of Bracebridge, placed 2nd right arm and 3rd left in the Masters, 80 kg class.  

Ashley Maher, Bracebridge, 60 kg, right arm, 1st place.
