Huntsville council to discuss property acquisition and new road for Fairvern redevelopment

The Town of Huntsville will be meeting this morning to discuss a new property proposal for the Fairvern Nursing Home Redevelopment.
Recently, council found that the old facility was no longer meeting the requirements of the Ministry of Health and the only option was to completely redevelop the building or shut down.
Land has been donated to the Fairvern board to place the redevelopment in a location that would be much closer to the Huntsville Hospital.
However to build on this property, council will need to agree to spend $250,000 on a municipal road extension that would connect the nursing home to the main road.
Town staff will also need to conduct necessary survey and legal work in order to have the property approved for the development of the new nursing home.
Fairvern is expected to make a formal application to the District of Muskoka to request partnership from the district as well.
The meeting kicks off at 9:00am in council chambers.
