The Town of Huntsville has a new way for you to browse certain websites. BrowseAloud is an online reading support tool to allow people to listen to online information rather than read it.
The town says it’s great for anyone who has any print disabilities like dyslexia or mild visual impairments. It is also especially useful for people with English as a second language. This is part of Huntsville’s goal to improve communication, information and technology within the Accessibility Plan.
Executive Director of Organizational Development & Strategy Lisa Smith says the Town is dedicated to promoting an inclusive and accessible environment for customers in-person and on the telephone. She says they’re thrilled to be able to extend these accessibility goals online.
BrowseAloud also offers larger text, reading translations and text to speech options. This service is available on the Town’s website, Algonquin Theatre, the library and the Muskoka Heritage Place website.
