Dead snapping turtle causes frustration for some Bracebridge residents

Bracebridge residents are upset over a snapping turtle that was run over near Kerr Park in town.

One resident posted pictures of the dead snapper with a reminder to contact Saving Turtles At Risk Today, or START Turtle Project.

Recently, the battle to protect turtle crossings in the region had another win when a crossing sign was added on Fraserburg Road just east of Bracebridge.

Scott Clayton with the District of Muskoka says putting up signs in the region is a balance.

He says in order to consider an area for a turtle crossing sign there needs to have been a high amount of turtle activity seen for a long period of time.

If you do come across an injured turtle in the area you can contact START at 705-955-4284
