It is sad news for over two dozen employees of two publications in Muskoka.
What’s Up Muskoka and Muskoka Magazine were both shut down on Thursday following a visit from officials with parent company Postmedia Network.
Laurie Johle was in sales for both publications and says all employees were completely blindsided by the news.
However, Johle says they were never prepared for the announcement that both publications would be shut down.
She says they thought they had been doing well lately in terms of sales and coverage.
Johle says following the initial shock of the announcement, she isn’t surprised by the decision of Postmedia.
Johle says it’s not just Muskoka, but print media nationwide is being affected as well.
