A proposed new project at the Muskoka Airport could have big implications for Gravenhurst.
Following a report that Porter Airlines may consider opening a terminal at the airport, one town official is excited by what opportunities this could bring to the community.
Director of Economic Development, Renato Romanin, says there are many economic benefits to commercial flights coming to and departing from Gravenhurst.
Romanin says this project falls directly in line with the town’s newly approved Strategic Plan which looks to grow economic and employment opportunities.
There is still a bit of work before this airline would be approved to use the Muskoka Airport, but the original report states it could be ready by 2017.
