The provincial government has announced that a proposed Municipal Land Transfer Tax will not make it any further than Toronto.
On Wednesday, during question period, Minister of Municipal Affairs Ted McMeekin made the announcement.
Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller says he was very pleased to see the idea shot down before it could be implemented.
Miller was also quite involved on a local level, bringing attention to the tax along with the Lakelands Association of Realtors.
The tax would have provided municipalities the opportunity to tax new property purchases.
