District warns residents to check for ID with door-to-door visitors

The District of Muskoka is warning residents, be wary of door-to-door visitors.

Officials have released a statement saying that the district will never send out a service person unless it has been scheduled ahead of time, and that person will always have proper identification.

The person will also always be driving a company vehicle.

Fred Jahn with the district, advises the majority of the time these visits will never be unexpected.

He says you should never ‘allow anyone that you do not know into your home or provide them with any of your personal information’.

This following various complaints to the Facebook group ‘Let’s Make Bracebridge Great Again’ warning of two suspicious men going door-to-door and trying to enter people’s homes.

If someone visits your door and you are concerned of their validity you can contact the district.

Police have released a similar report recently saying if you feel unsafe you should contact OPP immediately.
