Environment Canada Expects First Snow Storm to Start Tonight and Last Until Sunday

The first snow storm of the season is expected to hit the Muskoka region and the surrounding areas. It could start as early as tonight.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for all of Muskoka, Parry Sound, South River, Burks Falls, Baysville, Rosseau and Killbear Park. Officials say snowfall is likely to happen overnight and will continue throughout the weekend. Meteorologist Peter Kimball says heavy amounts of snow is expected.

Kimball says he expects most areas will be hit with heavy snowfall by Saturday night.

Heavy flurries and blowing snow could reduce visibility. He says whiteout conditions are also possible.

Kimball says most areas could see more than 20 centimeters of snow on the ground by the end of Sunday.
