Muskoka Brewery President Speaks Out on Western Canada Withdraw

The tax increase to sell beer in western Canada was a shock to all local brewers including Muskoka Brewery.

The local brewery announced they would be pulling their brands off the shelf and off the taps in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Alberta by the end of this year. President and Founder of Muskoka Brewery Gary McMullen says the increase in taxes skyrocketed and made them pull their product without hesitation.

After withdrawing, McMullan says they only managed to lose a few employees in the western markets. He says most of the work is still done in Muskoka and Central Ontario.

McMullen says they’re continuing to expand their products in more markets.

He says the brewery is working hard to see if they can deliver their products to western Canada residents that order online through a postal service.
