Muskoka realtors association opposes proposed Land Transfer Tax

A regional group of realtors is asking residents to speak out against a proposed municipal Land Transfer Tax.
The Lakelands Association of Realtors is opposing the idea to allow local municipalities to impose a land transfer tax on property purchases in the Muskoka, Haliburton and Orillia areas.
President of the Association, Tom Wilkinson, says these are funds that a new homeowner would be forced to pay upfront from their own pocket.
Wilkinson says he understands the position that municipalities are in to want this tax available as the Liberals cut more funding.
He says the best way to speak your mind about this tax is to contact your local MPP.
