Injured bear cub identified, is still alive

One of three bear cubs that was presumed to be shot has been found in a tree not far from where it first was discovered.

After two of the cubs moved to another tree on Sander Drive, it was assumed they were both the uninjured animals and that the injured cub was hiding or dead.

On Friday afternoon one woman spotted one single cub left in the same tree and noticed it was injured on its right hindquarter.

Mike McIntosh with Bear With Us was immediately contacted and a rescue effort kicked off.

McIntosh is leaving a live trap at the base of the tree hoping the cub will eventually come down on its own.

He says that the other two cubs may have gone to prepare to hibernate.
