Up until a month ago, Aitchison hadn’t planned on running as mayor. However, he says he realized it’s time for a change in leadership.

Aitchison says he thinks it’s important for the town and the community to catch their breathe.

He says it’s a significant burden on the average working folks in this community who are struggling to pay their taxes. As mayor, Aitchison believes the town would focus on getting back to basics.

Aitchison is the second person to put is name in the mayoral race. So far he is up against Councillor Tim Withey. Aitchison first got into municipal politics when he was elected to council in 1994. He was 21 at the time, which made him the youngest councillor in Huntsville’s history. The municipal election happens in October.
