The Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit is warning residents, get out the bug spray.
A case of West Nile virus has been confirmed by health officials in a mosquito pool in Alliston, just south of Barrie.
Officials with the unit are suggesting residents wear light-coloured clothing, wear repellent and stay indoors during dusk and dawn.
While most may not contract the virus from mosquito bites, those that do will face many symptoms including fevers, headaches and in some cases severe neurological damage.
For more information on West Nile and how to protect yourself visit the health unit website or call 705-721-7520.
