Caledonia dispute activist now representing Brian Coldin in court

Political activist Gary McHale will act as Bracebridge resident Brian Coldin’s agent in court this May. Coldin stands charged with failing to comply with an undertaking for showing up at the Bracebridge OPP Detachment on January 17th without an invite.

McHale, who is President of Canadian Advocates for Charter Equality (CANACE), spoke with the Moose about the charge

The Pre-trial will be closed to the public at the Bracebridge courthouse. In January, Coldin was still on bail after being charged with obstructing police, harassing a police officer and failing to comply with probation conditions, stemming from an incident in August. Several years ago Coldin fought a court battle for the right to be naked in public, a case he lost despite representation by famed Canadian lawyer Clayton Ruby. Gary McHale has organized several protests at the site of the aboriginal occupation of Douglas Creek Estates in Caledonia.
