Whata Mohawks receive Government Funding for Language Lessons

The Canadian Government has funded $72,614.00 to the Whata Mohawks for language lessons and learning resources for 2015-2016.

Muskoka-Parry Sound MP Tony Clement made the announcement Friday afternoon. These lessons will be broken up into three levels: fundamental, transitional, and skilled.

Participants will learn grammar, conversational skills, as well as reading and writing through virtual one-on-one sessions.

Philip Franks, Chief of the Mohawks thanks the federal Government for supporting their language initiative proposal. He mentions how this is the first step in the developmental language program that will heal their community.
