Schools are still open to students today in spite of strike action starting

Strike action is starting in local elementary schools today as part of the ETFO labour negotiations. The school board says that at this point, the job action is targeting Ministry of Education initiatives such as EQAO and ministry-related teacher professional development activities. Schools will be open as usual today and strike action will not impact extra-curricular activities, field trips and graduations. Early childhood educators, education support personnel and professional support personnel members will not be taking part. We’ll continue to have the story as it unfolds and updates are provided.
