FedNor invests almost $300,000 to develop Almaguin’s economy

Ryerson Township gets almost $298,100 for economic development. The FedNor funds will help Ryerson, in partnership with Armour and Burk’s Falls, hire an economic development officer (EDO) for three years. The EDO will take on projects like developing a marketing plan to increase tourism in the area, creating and implementing a business retention and expansion plan and developing an industrial park opportunity.

Ryerson’s Reeve Glenn Miller says this will help stimulate business investment, expansion and attraction, and ultimately result in increased revenue and employment levels to the region.

The announcement was made on Friday, May 8. Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement says this funding will help strengthen the economic competitiveness of the Almaguin Highlands region and create jobs.
