Huntsville council will be meeting today at General Committee to discuss how they are going to appoint a new councillor. Mayor Scott Aitchison says there are several options.
Aitchison says he’d prefer to go through an application process.
The move to appoint a new councillor instead of holding a by-election could create some added pressure to the successful candidate since they weren’t elected. However, Aitchison doesn’t seem to think that will happen.
Council will meet today at 10 a.m. to discuss the process. The new councillor will replace Chris Zanetti who represented Stisted, Stevenson and Port Sydney wards.
