Environment Canada has issued a yellow air quality warning for Muskoka as it experiences smoky and hazy skies.
While there are no active wildfires in the area, officials say smoke from fires outside the region is creating poor local air quality and reduced visibility. Officials warn this may create more challenging conditions for some residents, including infants, seniors, and those with underlying health conditions.
Residents are being encouraged to take precautions including limiting time outdoors, checking in on neighbours, and keeping windows closed and indoor air free from smoke.
Officials are reminding the public to call 911 immediately if they see smoke columns or signs of a nearby fire.
