A partnership between Gravenhurst High School and Gravenhurst Public School has helped students build relationships through the Science Buddies project.
According to officials, the project was launched early this year, and to date, six different high school classes have been involved, working with 35 students in grades one and two, alternating between schools each month.
“Engagement and excitement have been high throughout the project, with students from both schools eagerly anticipating their time together,” said Clare McLean-Wilson, GHS vice-principal.
School officials said the initiative brings students together each month to explore biology, chemistry, and health sciences through interactive workshops, helping them build relationships and gain confidence in an engaging, hands-on learning environment.
Kaitlin Brown, a Grade 2 teacher at Gravenhurst Public School, said the hands-on stations have been a highlight for students, covering topics such as the human body, light and shadows, solids and liquids, and much more.
