Huntsville man charged following attempted robbery at convenience store

A 26-year-old Huntsville man is facing multiple charges after an attempted robbery at a local convenience store.

Huntsville OPP officers were called to the business on West Road shortly after 8:00 p.m. on March 26, after receiving reports of a robbery.

According to police, a man entered the store wearing a disguise and demanded money from the cash register. Police say a struggle broke out between the suspect and store staff, resulting in the suspect sustaining a facial injury. Damage was also reported to several items inside the store.

Investigators say the suspect fled the scene without obtaining any money.

Officers quickly located a man matching the description provided and took him into custody. Police say the accused received medical attention for minor injuries sustained during the incident.

The accused has been charged with robbery with intent, mischief causing damage to property, and failing to comply with a probation order.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for March 31 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge.
