YWCA announces 2026 Women of Distinction Award nominees and recipients

YWCA Muskoka has announced the nominees for the 2026 Women of Distinction Awards, recognizing women who have contributed to their communities and improved the lives of people in Muskoka.

Officials said a total of 31 women were nominated by community members for their contributions and accomplishments, with seven selected as award recipients by an independent panel.

“So often, women are a little bit hesitant to recognize their accomplishments and receive awards. And we really feel that it’s important to put a spotlight on all of the important things women are doing, especially those who are doing it behind the scenes,” said Laura Sundy, Co-Chair of the event and YWCA’s Director of Community Engagement.

Sundy also said this event serves as a fundraiser for the local organization.

“The impact of this gala has a ripple effect because the more funds we raise, means that YWCA can run more local programming for women and girls, and family and youth across the district,” she said.

The gala to officially recognize the recipients will be held on April 2 at Deerhurst Resort.

This year’s recipients are:

  • Isabella Bullock – Young Woman of Distinction Award
  • Aimee Bulloch-Moore – Arts, Culture and Creativity Award
  • Jody North – Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award
  • Joyce Jonathan Crone – Transforming Community Award.
  • Sarah Jean Smith will receive the Health, Sports, and Wellness Award Description.
  • Michelle Battaglia will receive the Skilled Trades Award.
  • Catherine Cole will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
