Man charged after fleeing crash and hiding in snow on Highway 11

Huntsville OPP charged a man with impaired driving after he crashed his vehicle and then attempted to avoid police by hiding in the snow.

Police said on Dec. 9 at around noon, officers responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 11, southbound near Aspdin Road.

According to police, when officers arrived at the scene, they located a man hiding in the snow a short distance away from the vehicle.

Following an investigation, officers determined the man was impaired and arrested him.

As a result, a 31-year-old from Marmora has been charged with operation while impaired and failing to remain at the scene of the collision.

The accused received a 90-day driver’s license suspension, had their vehicle impounded for seven days, and is scheduled to appear in court in February 2026.
